INVISALIGN
Invisalign braces are similar to transparent gum shields. They are a series of aligners that slowly move the teeth into the desired position and are changed every two weeks to ensure they are constantly putting pressure on the teeth to keep them moving. It is one of the most invisible brace systems. Invisalign alleviates the requirement for the use of visible wires and brackets– which can often become a source of embarrassment.
It is advised that the invisalign brace be worn at least 20 hours a day however one of the main advantages of Invisalign braces is the fact that they are removable. So eating and cleaning your teeth is very easy, which will no doubt avoid embarrassing situations and ensure oral health is maintained. This can be advantageous on social occasions too.
Invisalign Treatment
Before a treatment plan can be created, digital impressions are taken of your teeth using our iTero scanner to check whether they can be straightened using the Invisalign System. You will be able to visualise your result before you even start treatment! Once confirmed, a detailed treatment plan will then be developed using ClinCheck®, our virtual 3D treatment plan. ClinCheck shows the series of movements your teeth are projected to go through over the course of the treatment – so you can see how your teeth are expected to look at the end of your Invisalign treatment before it even begins.
The Process
A series of aligners will be made; you will wear each set of custom-made aligners in two-week increments. As you progress through the series of aligners, your teeth will begin moving, little by little, gradually moving towards the desired position.
During this time you will have occasional check-ups in order to monitor your progress and ensure you are comfortable with the treatment.
Treatment times vary from person to person, depending on the complexity of each straightening issue. At our dental clinic we will discuss your goals and concerns and only then agree the best way forward for you achieving the best results in the shortest time.
Discreet Invisible Braces
Most people don’t like the look of metal braces and even though they produce good results people don’t want them on their teeth. This could be embarrassment or possibly due to their work/ lifestyle people find it difficult to have them. Fortunately, Invisalign are almost invisible, comfortable and removable.
Your Invisalign treatment consists of a series of nearly invisible, removable aligners that you change every two weeks for the next set of aligners. Each aligner is individually manufactured for your teeth, and your teeth only. As you replace each aligner, your teeth will move – little by little, week by week – until they have straightened to the desired position.
Before you begin, a virtual 3D treatment plan shows the series of movements your teeth will go through over the course of the treatment. This allows you to see upfront what your teeth are expected to look like at the end of the treatment. From the results of the ClinCheck treatment plan, your custom-made, clear aligners are produced especially for you.
Advantages of Invisalign
- CLEAR – Invisalign aligners are virtually invisible so very discreet, if you are worried about how they are going to look.
- REMOVABLE – Invisalign aligners can be removed to eat, drink, brush and floss and for special occasions.
- COMFORTABLE – Invisalign is comfortable and almost painless.
- EFFECTIVE – Even before your Invisalign treatment is finished, you’ll begin enjoying the benefit of a better smile. Teeth alignment will start right from the beginning.
Space Creation
If the teeth are overcrowded then space is needed to allow the teeth to move into the correct positions. This is usually done painlessly by what’s known as interdental polishing. This is fine polishing done in between teeth to create the space needed for teeth to move.
Retention
Once your teeth are straight retainers are custom made and fitted to prevent your teeth from moving back. If you do not have retainers your teeth will move back.
Retainers can be a fixed wire bonded to the back of your teeth or removable retainers very similar the Invisalign brace itself.
