Tips To Help You Maintain Your Invisalign Clear Aligners

Invisalign clear aligners are relatively easy and low maintenance, so you really don’t have to change your lifestyle much at all. That said, we want you to have the healthiest smile possible, so there are some things to be aware of when it comes to taking care of your Invisalign clear aligners.

Regularly clean your Invisalign Clear Aligners

It’s a good idea to regularly clean your Invisalign Clear Aligners to help keep your teeth and gums healthy. Make sure you brush them with a soft-bristled toothbrush and some toothpaste or a soft bacterial soap. This will help remove food particles and any drink particles that can cause staining and provide added protection against further staining. After brushing, give them a quick rinse with lukewarm water to make sure they stay clean.

Furthermore, by taking the time to bathe your aligners in something such as Invisalign Cleaning Crystals once a day, you will be providing an even greater level of protection and reducing your chance of staining.

Take care when eating or drinking

It is important to remember that Invisalign Clear Aligners are not meant for eating or drinking with, so take care when removing them before meals or snacks in order to avoid damaging them.

There are certain foods and drinks which could potentially stain your aligners,  so it’s best to avoid them where possible. These include: tea, coffee, red wine, cola, curry, soy sauce and balsamic vinegar.

Following these tips can help ensure that your aligners stay looking their best throughout the course of treatment!

Remember to brush and floss!

Make sure to clean your teeth thoroughly before putting the aligners back in; this will help to reduce the number of bacteria that can get trapped inside. We recommend brushing at least twice a day with a toothpaste which contains fluoride, and flossing before you brush.  Once you start turning regular brushing and flossing into a habit, it will become second nature and just another part of your day.

Always store your Invisalign clear aligners in the aligner case

For the best outcome, you should be wearing your aligners 20 – 22 hours a day. But for the few hours a day when you’re not wearing your aligners, it’s vital that you store them in their Invisalign case. Not only will this prevent them from getting lost, but it will also keep them clean and free from any dirt or bacteria.

If you’re ever in a situation where you can’t access your Invisalign case, make sure you store your clear aligners in a clean, dry place — not in your pocket!

All these steps combined will ensure that you maintain your Invisalign Clear Aligners throughout treatment without issue!
